MonkeyLogic not recognizing touchscreen responses
October 15, 2024 03:14PM
Hello,

We are currently trying to run monkeylogic on a touchscreen monitor, but it does not register touches. The touchscreen works normally for other applications outside of monkeylogic, and also works on fullscreen windows besides monkeylogic. The program recognizes an nidaq, and assigns eye x and y to channels when loading a conditions file. We have tried different combinations of channels but have had no success.

Any advice would be appreciated

Did you check on the [Touchscreen] option in the [Other device settings (USB, etc.)] menu?

You also need to choose how many touches you want to track, if the monitor supports multi-touch.

Yes, I checked the touchscreen option. I also set the touch to 1.

How did you figure out that the touches are not registered?

We think that the taps are not registering because the touchscreen works for everything else. We discovered it wasn't working when we started the task on the subject monitor and were unable to make selections.

I cannot tell whether it was an appropriate test, since I have not seen the task code.

Please try the [I/O Test] menu as shown in the following link. When the subject screen is touched, a hand icon will appear on the corresponding position of the control screen.

When I run the IO test, there does not appear to be any input detected when I tap on the subject screen.

What is your touchscreen model? When you touch the monitor outside MonkeyLogic, do you see the mouse cursor under your fingertip?

The touchscreen model is: ELO ET2094L. We have previously used this touchscreen to successfully run monkeylogic, but have since had to reinstall the program and are now having issues. When I touch the monitor outside of MonkeyLogic, I do see the mouse cursor under my fingertips.

You should have told me that information first. Then, we could reach this conclusion earlier. The conclusion is that I cannot help you with this issue of yours.

NIMH ML receives touch input from Windows via standard APIs. There is nothing that makes NIMH ML any different from other applications. So, you should look for the reason of malfunction in your Windows or hardware, especially when it worked fine before.

You can try updating the touchscreen driver, since some ELO user fixed a similar issue by doing so.
